I had the pleasure of being a student of Mr. Sheppard at Saunders so many years ago. I achieved my highest math marks with John as my teacher. He made a shy young man feel confident in math and made learning enjoyable.
John was also my tennis coach. He was a joy to be around with a smile, a laugh, and high expecations for behaviour on and off the court.
I think of John with a deep appreciation for having known him.
My sincere condolences to Linda and the rest of his family.

To Karen and all of John's family:
Margaret and I send you sincere condolences on the loss of John. He was an excellent teacher and an esteemed colleague. He was an approachable and friendly man who had the respect of his students and the confidence of his fellow teachers. Most importantly, he was a dear friend, and I'm deeply sorry that he has gone. In thinking about John, I'm enjoying some good memories, and hope that you are too.

We are so very saddened by the passing of John. Sincere condolences to Karen and all of John's family. It's a shame that such a great guy has to pass so young. My husband Robb has years of pleasant memories working with John, playing hockey together, etc. My memories of John don't go back as far....only 24 years....lol. Karen, you & John were the first friends Robb introduced me to when we started dating. Your wedding was one of our first outings together....that wasn't a hockey game. More recently, I had the pleasure of playing tennis with John, and he was one of the most skilled but polite and accommodating people I've encountered on the tennis court. He will be missed by all that knew him.
