Obituary of Leo Lynch
Lynch- Leo Joseph of St. Thomas passed away with the love of his life Marilyn at his side, on Saturday December 7, 2024, at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital at the age of 80. Leo was born August 30,1944, the son of the late Philip and Mary “Mayme” (Welch) Lynch. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Cole) Lynch and by siblings Donna Brady (Wayne Smith), twin sister, Betty McIntyre (late Art) and Charlie (late Marilyn). He was predeceased by siblings Roy, Jack, Mary Kellett (late Bill), Bill, Donnie, Eugene and Esther Sass (late Wally). He is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Lynch, Mary Lynch, Mary Catherine Lynch and Margie Lynch and was the dear brother -in-law of Elaine Raynham and Barry (Nancy) Cole. He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great & great - great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leo was a licensed plumber having worked for Ambrose Plumbing; PL Roberts and he had retired from Ford Motor Company as a pipefitter. He was a 50 year member of the St. Thomas Optimist Club having served twice as President and once as Lieutenant Governor, he was also a 50 year member of AA. He enjoyed coaching various hockey and baseball teams throughout the years and was a member of the Centennial Sports Club. Leo was a member of Holy Angels Parish and formerly served as an usher. He loved to dance, play euchre and loved his dogs Peggy, Sally and Jack. Marilyn wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on 5th floor and 2nd floor Continuing Care, Unit D for all of their care and compassion.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Holy Angels Church, 502 Talbot St., St. Thomas on Thursday at 10:00 am. Private family interment to follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery. A Public reception will be held at St. Annes Center immediately following the service and words of remembrance will be shared. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Elgin Hospice, the St.Thomas -Elgin General Hospital or to Animal Aide in memory of Leo.
