Obituary of Bud Emberson
Emberson- Alfred Thomas “Bud” (1936-2024)
Bud Emberson, born on August 30, 1936, left us peacefully, on November 20th, 2024. As the only son of Alfred and Nellie Emberson, he was raised in a household filled with love and togetherness. Bud learned early on how to persevere and overcome difficult situations and tragic events and had the ability to keep an incredible sense of humour along the way. It is these experiences that allowed him to live on and survive additional events in his life as the years went by.
In May of 1964, Bud married the love of his life, Norma Jean Laurie. Together they filled 30 years with a lifetime's worth of love and joy before Norma’s passing in June ‘94 due to diabetes complications. They loved nothing more than road trips to Cape Cod, cold beer and baseball, and it is debatable in which order.
In a heartfelt choice, Bud and Norma adopted two children, Thomas (Stacy) of Allen, TX and Tracy (Greg Woodworth) of London. His pride in his grandchildren, Abby and Jake, was immeasurable, and he often recalled the joy of being present for their births in Dallas.
Professionally, Bud was a very proud master electrician and spent much of his career with Ford Motor Company in Talbotville. His passions included Blue Jays baseball, hitting the golf course whenever possible and cherishing time with family.
Bud was so fortunate enough to have found companionship again in Josephine Ryan, and their years together brought him joy until her passing in 2011.
Bud shared a close bond (and COVID) with his sister, Elizabeth Weir, and her late husband Bob, who was not only his brother-in-law but also his best friend and golf partner. Bud was also pre-deceased by Norma’s sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Gordon Barlow who he shared many an adventure and hangover with. He will be lovingly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews, the Weir, Fisher, Barlow, Irwin and Hamilton families. Bud was affectionately known as ‘Uncle Bud’ not only to his family, but to all of the friends of Tom, Tracy and his nieces and nephews. He was always ‘that guy’, the guy who welcomed everyone with open arms, a smile, some sarcasm and a cold drink!
Above all, Bud was an incredible dad—a source of support, love, and guidance. He will be forever remembered as the kind and loving man he was. Rest in sweet peace, Dad! You will forever be the Handsome King!
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sripalin, Nurse Amanda, the PSW Teams at Paramed and VON, Tracy C and Polly, and the team at Medical Priorities for their exceptional care and support during Bud's final days.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, December 8, at the Lamplighter Inn (Chelsea Room), 591 Wellington Road, London, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with remarks beginning at 1:30 PM. We invite you to share a fun story, a cherished memory, or a favorite picture as we come together. Please come dressed casually and bring a smile — just the way Bud would have wanted it.
