Susan Yandreski

Obituary of Susan Yandreski

Susan Yandreski, born January 26, 1954, in London, ON, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, at the age of 70.

Susan was the beloved daughter of Stella (Kaminski) Yandreski and the late John Yandreski. Dear sister to Valerie Yandreski (Steve), Lauren Yandreski, John Yandreski (Darcy), Carol Yandreski and Andrea Yandreski (Shyam).

Her memory lives on with her nieces and nephews: Brandon (Natalie), Chris, Melissa (Keeley), Angela, Sarah (Ricardo), Dan (Amanda) and Keshava. Great nieces and nephews: Lakely, Parker, Kayce, Emily, Kenna, Wade, Lyla and Shep. Cousins: Mark, Michael and Neil.

Family was very important to Susan. She very rarely missed the opportunity to join in family occasions and was always ready to share stories and humour. Everyone enjoyed her quick wit and off-the-cuff statements. Susan’s text messages and long phone calls were legendary. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews for the “Aunt Sue sleep overs” where each day began with a healthy Vector cereal breakfast followed by physical activities that included hiking ending with crazy fries, pizza and many fun surprises. Hydrogenated foods were not allowed.

For many years, her cats Coconut and Jewels, (aka her kids) gave her immense pleasure and brought out her nurturing motherly qualities. Her second love was Sauble Beach where she had her second home.

Susan’s life was shared with many friends whom she cherished and held dear to her heart.

Among her many accomplishments she had a successful career as a CPA and also used this talent to support friends and family with all their accounting needs including keeping everyone in line through the annual tax season.

She was an excellent researcher finding interesting small shops and food stores around the Halton and Sauble Beach regions. She enjoyed browsing local artist's markets and stores, purchasing their creations to support them.

Another endearing attribute of Susan’s was her love for all things “sweet”, ranging from chocolate to pastries to Tim Hortons Retro Donuts.  Her love of food kept her busy looking for and trying new recipes, often returning to her favourites…. perogies and cabbage rolls!

Throughout her life, Susan enjoyed various activities including playing and watching tennis on tv, leading NFL pools, novels, logic puzzles books, knitting, painting and even tried her hand at writing.  She lived in London, Toronto and Burlington with some of her best memories and stories coming from her time in Calgary and Edmonton.

Susan was known for her grit and determination as well as stubbornness for not letting cancer beat her. A “miracle patient” to the many Doctors and health care workers, she lived for an incredible 12 years with stage 4 breast cancer.

A private family graveside service will be held on Monday October 21, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in London.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Society – Breast Cancer or Juravinski Cancer Centre in memory of Susan.
