Obituary of Verna Calvert

Calvert-Verna Ann (Lagroix) of London passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Dearly loved wife for 51 years of the late Peter Calvert (2018). Loved mother of Mary Lynne (Mark Dejaegher) and Jennifer Calvert. Proud grandma of Thomas (Trinity), Joseph, Claire, and dear sister of the late Carl (late Moira), late Onagh (late Gordon Ross), late Anne Hegarty (late Tony), Earl Lagroix (Deanna), late Ed Lagroix (Yvonne) and Jim and Nevaida Howe. Verna was born on February 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Hilda (Murphy) and Alexander Lagroix. She was a retired teacher who taught at St. Dominic’s Catholic Elementary School and Fanshawe College. She was an avid bowler, loved Tim Horton’s coffee, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She loved her horses and took great pleasure in shopping for her grandchildren and everyone. She enjoyed singing, bird watching and Peter’s flower gardens. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League at St Martin’s Parish.

The funeral service will be held at McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S London (Lambeth), on Saturday, September 7, at 12:00 pm., with a visitation to take place prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A luncheon will follow the service. A Private Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date.
