Obituary of Alan George Hinge

Peacefully at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on April 14, 2024 at the age of 85.  Beloved husband of 61 years to Elizabeth Hinge (2020), loving father to Michael Hinge and Heather (Longmore) Hinge of Okotoks, and Bryan Hinge and Grega (Soltys) Hinge of London. Proud grandpa of Allesandra and Marley.  Predeceased by his mother Olive, father Leslie, sister Barbara and brother Wayne.

Alan worked at CKSL radio in his early years in London and enjoyed 40+ years working at London Life as an insurance advisor and financial planner.  He was the President of the London Executives Association (LEA) and The Advertising and Sales Club of London in 1983.

Alan enjoyed power boating and a love of promoting safe boating as a life-time member of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron that included serving as Commander of the London Power and Sail Squadron 1994-1995, prior to being Commander Alan was the Education Officer for the London Squadron.  He was the District Commander of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron – Western Ontario District 2004-2005.

Cremation has taken place, and internment at Woodland Memorial Cemetery to be completed at a future date.  A Celebration of Life for Alan and Elizabeth will be announced once a date has been set.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Alan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or your charity of choice is most welcomed and appreciated by the family. The Hinge family wishes to thank all those who cared for Alan during his time in Victoria Hospital and also the staff at Longworth Retirement Residence.
