Obituary of Charlie McMullen

McMullen- Charles Junior of Shedden passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in his 90^th year.  Loving and caring husband of the late Kathleen ”Kay” McMullen (2019)  and loved  father of Roger and  Mary Anne McMullen of Shedden. Very proud grandfather of Graham McMullen of Shedden and Carrie McMullen of Ottawa. Charlie was born July 31,1934 in St. Thomas, the son of the late William and Laura (Annett) McMullen and was predeceased by his brother William “Bill” McMullen and his sister Mildred “Toots” (Stan) Pearn. Fondly remembered by niece Laura (Rusty) Hayes and nephew Bill Pearn. Charlie was a farmer and lived his entire life on the family farm on Oneida Road just outside of Shedden, ON. As a third baseman, Charlie was an avid baseball enthusiast and a member of Shedden’s 1961 ORSA Intermediate “C” and the 1963 ORSA Intermediate “B” Championship teams. Charlie’s roots were deeply planted in the community, and he leaves behind many relatives and lifelong friends.

A private family graveside will be held at the McArthur Cemetery in Southwold. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation (www.steghfoundation.ca)  will be gratefully acknowledged.  McFarlane and Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Rd., S.
