It is with great sadness the family of Kathleen Josephine (Kathy) Sutton (née Perreault) share the news of her death at age 64 on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in London, ON, after a short illness. Kathy was surrounded in love by family and died holding the hand of her husband of 40 years, Dean Sutton.

Kathy, named for her maternal grandfather, was born in Chatham, ON June 28,1959 to Maurice and Mary Perreault, and lived in Blenheim during her early childhood. During those years, she spent many happy days at her grandparents’ farm in Ridgetown. Her family moved to London in 1970, where Kathy attended Westminster Secondary School, making lifelong friends and many happy memories. It was during this time she met her husband Dean and they were married September 10, 1983. 

Kathy had a fearless streak and she welcomed adventure. She had a lifelong love of the water - as a young adult, she was a member of the London Rowing Club and spent several seasons as a lifeguard. In later years, she continued to be happiest near water and spent this past summer happily and peacefully paddling her new kayak, fully enjoying the outdoors and her retirement. Kathy and Dean also had a love of motorcycles; Kathy not only spent years racing her own bike, including representing Canada for two years in Indianapolis, she also taught the motorcycle course for the Ministry of Transportation at Fanshawe College for 30 years. Kathy was also a valued team member at various Loblaws stores for a substantial portion of her career. 

 

Kathy was an enthusiastic Mimmy to her four adored grandchildren.  She found great joy in sharing her love for the outdoors with them, whether it was Easter egg hunts, sleepovers, campfires, hot tubs, jumping on the trampoline, enjoying the beauty of nature or just hanging out together. 

Kathy will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Dean, and her children Jessie Sutton (Brad), Daryl Sutton (Michelle) and Alysha Sutton. She was a cherished and adventurous Mimmy to grandchildren Mattaya, Harmony, Darren and Lucas. She was the beloved daughter of Maurice (pre deceased 2017) & Mary Perreault, a dear sister to Rick Perreault (Leanne) and Lisa Brendon (Jeff), and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Kathy also enjoyed many strong and long-term friendships – those friends will miss her dearly. Kathy was a cherished member of a large extended family and always loved time spent with her aunts, uncles and many cousins.

 

Kathy’s family would like to thank the staff at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, who showed great care, compassion and kindness during her time there.

Cremation has taken place through McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd., S.  Lambeth. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on her birthday, June 28, 2024. Details to follow.
