John Pintaric

Obituary of John Pintaric

It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the passing of John Pintaric in his 59th year.

John was the son of the late Eva and Boris Pintaric and brother of Dennis.

John was married for 31 years to the love of his life, Cheryl. Their love for one another was unprecedented and they often left others in awe of their deep love for each other. John was a devoted stepfather to Courtney (Pam) and Adam (Jennifer) who he proudly raised as his own. John was a fun and gentle Dido to all of his grandchildren, Laira, Cole, Gavin, Lochlan and Abby. Dido was always doing something fun for the kids, building bonfires, putting up a zipline, building a pool, playing sports, building stuff and tobogganing. He was truly a big kid at heart.

John was a superb athlete. He played baseball for several years with the H.O.B.O. Baseball league as well as with the travelling team, the Stealers. Most recently he was playing volleyball with the Ontario Master’s Volleyball +55 Club and his team the Syndicate. He loved this sport most of all! This often allowed John to travel to tournaments so he could spike the ball off of the opponents bodies while sporting his very colourful knee high sport socks and a confident grin.

John spent a 36 year career with the Federal Government in various departments finishing with a managerial position with CBSA before retiring in November 2022. Throughout his career he led many social events; arranging trips to see the Blue Jay games, annual Curling Tournaments, Christmas parties and annual picnics.

John was a logical and deep thinker. To his family he was the stabilizer, the go to guy. His quick wit, massive IQ and sense of humour will be missed as much as his repulsion for cheese.

John had a very difficult journey in the last six months, but he always maintained optimism and hope. He left this world with big plans. He will be missed more than anyone will ever know.

Please join us for John's Celebration of Life at McMaster University, Alumni Hall, 1280 Main Street West in Hamilton on Saturday December 2 at 2:00pm.  Parking is available in parking lot E, G or Stadium underground.
