Johnston-Dona Mae (Dale)

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, while surrounded by her loving family at the Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, at the age of 86. Dearly loved wife of 60 years to Fred (2015). Loving mother of Rick & Deb Johnston of Belmont, Kathy Johnston & Joel Stacey, and Carolynn & Richard Bertens, all of London. Proud grandmother of Courtney (Mike), William (Kayla) & Matthew (Jenna). Great grandmother of Ryker, Tenley, Lukas, Maeve, Olivia & Kacey. Dear sister of Carmen Dale, Doris (Lloyd) Grove & John (Lynda) Dale. Predeceased by her brother Stan Dale, and by her sisters Mary Grove and Jean Gibson and lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Barb Dale and her brother-in-law Larry Grove. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dona was born February 6, 1937, in London, the daughter of the late Anson & Dorothy (Swindle) Dale.

Dona was raised on a farm and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking with pride.  She became a master seamstress, making much of her own clothing for years. Dona worked at Northern Telecom prior to retirement. We will miss Gramma’s beautiful smile, the time playing games in the dining room, her sneaky antics, and the emergency “eggs on toast” when we were running late.

Friends and relatives are welcome to attend visitation at McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road South, London, 519-652-2020, on Thursday, November 23, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held, Friday, November 24, at 11:00am. Private internment of ashes to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre.  On-line condolences are available at www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.
