Obituary of Elaine Marie Podebry

Elaine Marie Podebry,

June 3, 1934 – October 9, 2023

Peacefully with her loving family by her side, at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario, Elaine Marie Podebry (nee: Drouillard) of Lambeth in her 90^th year.  Born June 3, 1934, in Windsor, Ontario, she was the first child of Herman and Lillian Drouillard.  Loving and caring wife for 64 years of Murray Podebry.  Loving mother of Mike and Elaine Podebry and Karen and Mike Seez and predeceased by her sons Jamie (2002) and Mark (2022).   Loving mother-in-law of Deanna McKechnie and Kim Podebry.  Proud grandmother of Lisa and Mike Novakowski, Kirsten and Gerry Maynard, Amy and Lee Chesworth, Ashley and Josh Bujaki, Brandley and Kelly Andrews, Ryan Podebry and Nicole Seez.  Great grandmother of Alyssa, Lachlan, Hadley, Hudson, Evelyn, Aubrey, Liam, Edie, Wesley and Livi.   Loving sister and sister-in-law of Bernadette and Leo Ducharme, Leona and Pat Donaghue, Lou Drouillard and Walter and Anna Podebry.  She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Predeceased by her parents Herman (1988) and Lillian (1990) Drouillard, siblings, Stan Drouillard, Jeannette Schram, and her brother-in-law Richard Schram. Elaine will also be greatly missed by her many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Elaine was a very strong, amazing lady who would do anything for anyone.  She was the heart of the family whether she was calling with gossip, or bringing us all together for BBQ’s, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, extra pepper included.  Her caring nature was felt by many.  She travelled with her husband to Barbados, Hawaii, and Las Vegas, but most of the time they enjoyed many winters together in their Florida home.  She loved her iPad and playing word chums and scrabble, especially with her grandchildren.  She was very loved and will be greatly missed by us all.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

The Celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road South, London, Ontario N6P 1L1, Friday, November 3, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Cremation has taken place.  Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1200-2300 Yonge Street, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4 or the Charity of your Choice gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.
