Loving mother of Ronald (passed away in 1956) and Wayne Hansen and daughter-in-law Debbie of Marathon, Ontario. Dearly loved by granddaughter Jennifer Hansen and great grandson Eric Hansen of Marathon, Ontario and grandson Jason Hansen and his wife Crystal of Calgary, Alberta and great granddaughters Sophia and Paisley of Calgary, Alberta and my dear friend Cathie Bechard of Sherwood Park, Alberta. Doris was the youngest of ten children born to John Bluhm and the youngest of 5 children born to Priscilla Gougeon Bluhm.Doris’ siblings where Norman (1906-1985); Marie (1907 -1979); Florence (1909-2006); Elmer (1910-1993); Dorothy (1916-1923); EldaMae; Stella (1928-1987); Allan (1929-1933) and Harold (1932-2004). Doris was born November 2nd, 1934 and grew up on a farm at R. R. #4, Chesley, Ontario and was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s Luthern Church in Desboro, Ontario. At the age of 16, Doris went to work in a Silkknit factory at Chesley and then another Silkknit at Wiarton. From here Doris went to work for her nephew (Al Dirstein) in St. Catharines and Thorold, Ontario. While there she also worked in a fabric factory and it was at this time she met and married Poul Hansen. From Thorold they moved to Wiarton and then for 7 years in a house trailer all over Ontario on road construction (Tobermory, Elliot Lake, Wilberforce, Britt, Thunder Bay), then moved to Hanover, Ontario where Wayne started school and Doris worked in the Red & White grocery store and then IGA. Doris and Wayne left Hanover in 1969 and went to live in Strathroy. There Wayne attended school and Doris was a Nurses Aide at Friendly Acres (1969-1972). After taking a Nursing Course at Fanshawe College she worked at Strathmere Lodge (1972-1991) before an early retirement due to an injury. Doris married Niels Jensen in 1974 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. In 1984 they joined Faith Lutheran Church (this became the #1 highlight of their life). Wayne married Debbie Kettlewell in 1977 and moved to Marathon, Ontario. Shortly after Doris was blessed with two grandchildren (Jennifer and Jason) and years later Jennifer blessed Doris with a grand grandson (Eric in 1999) and Jason with 2 great granddaughters (Sophia in 2011 and Paisley in 2014). Wayne and Debbie purchased a camp at White Lake in 1982 and this was another highlight of Doris’ adventure in life. She enjoyed the serenity of camp life (not to mention the love of the ATV with many hours of exploring the wilds on the ATV). Doris went up to camp every summer plus every March and it was then she learned to snowmobile. In 1994 Doris and Niels moved to Lambeth and Doris became very active in mission work with the Lutheran Womens’ Missionary League. Also for many years enjoyed being part of a “chimers” group. For 14 years Doris went into the church every Monday morning and did volunteer work.
