I just learned of Harry's passing, deepest condolences!
I knew Harry about 30 years ago when I was active in the Canadian Rose Society as a regional director and was able to tour Harry's amazing garden in Lambeth. He shared many wonderful thoughts about roses in their care and variety.
He is sadly missed by many.

I just today discovered Harry's passing. Harry and I shared a passion for McGee family genealogy. We are cousins. I spent many hours with him and his family history records. I much admired his work. He was a stickler for accuracy and completeness. His book "Son of Fire" is still relevant to genealogists everywhere. I wish we could do another family reunion in Amherstburg like he organized many years ago. I'm sure he's now in heaven meeting all our ancestors and filling in the missing pieces in our records. Rest in peace dearest cousin.

I met Harry during his 90th year at the Cronyn Observatory, when he was giving his memories of his time as an undergraduate there. We chatted about the people in the physics department (he was a year ahead of me) and eventually about the re-blooming iris, then in flower, which I felt I had to see, so we visited his house in Lambeth to see them and saw the iris and his wonderful rose garden. I cherish the memory of a few more visits and of his wonderful 90th birthday party. Sending kindest wishes to all Harry's family. Janet Hunten

Our sincerest condolences to your whole family......
We are neighbours of Harry's here on Outer Drive. He loved to chat on his daily walks especially during the spring, summer and fall. We all shared Harry's love of gardening and relied on his wealth of knowledge to guide us in our own gardening adventures. He was always happy to assist and share his ideas. We all visited his garden multiple times especially on the annual Lambeth Garden tours. He will be deeply missed in the neighbourhood.
Most sincerely,
Heather and Iain Guild, Carmela Longo

Sorry to her about Harry's passing. He was a great man who I enjoyed spending time with, either discussing equity markets, or roses. He taught me a lot about a huge variety of roses and designing gardens. He live out his life the way he wanted to, at home, surrounded by his gardens, especially his roses. May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences.

Graham, I remember all our chats about your father when you still worked at London Life. He had a real zest for life and sounded like he was a wonderful father and gardener. Hope you are doing well. Keep memories of your Dad close. Living to age 95 is quite an accomplishment and truly a blessing.
