Obituary of Jan Gray

JANET SARAH ANNE (KINSELLA) GRAY

It is with profound sadness and many tears we announce the passing of our dearly loved Mom, Janet (Jan) Gray (nee Kinsella).  In her 85^th year, she died peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, May 7, 2022 after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Jan is survived by her four children, Steve (Linda) Gray, Rick (Laura) Gray, Carrie Gray and Sandy Gray.  She is also survived by her sister Carol (Gerry) Hier and her brother Patrick (Brenda) Kinsella and the family pet, Sadie.  Nana was dearly loved by her four grandchildren, Sonny Gray, Jay (Lena) Gray, Michelle (Jamie) Thorpe and Dylan (Melissa) Gray. GiGi was also cherished by her seven great-grandchildren, Olivia and Levi Gray, Mckenna and Everly Thorpe, Easton and Addison Gray and Kai Gray.  Dearly missing Jan are sisters-in law Vi Kinsella, Helen Kinsella, Jane Dean and Yvonne Kinsella.  Numerous nieces and nephews are also grieving the loss of their Aunt Jan.  Jan is pre-deceased by her parents Tom and Sadie Kinsella and four brothers Vic, Gord, Bud and Dan Kinsella.

Jan worked for many years at The Talbot Inn where she was the office and property manager.  After The Talbot Inn was torn down, she became an usher at The John Labatt Centre.  She loved taking care of her guests in sections 304 and 305 for the London Knights games.  It was common to see her dancing to the music and cheering every home goal and handing out high-fives.  For over 15 years Jan was a volunteer and head buyer for the General Store at Parkwood Hospital and made many new friends there.

Jan also loved to travel and made friends everywhere she went.  Her favourite destinations were the Dominican Republic, Barbados and Baseball Spring Training.  Mom loved her Toronto Blue Jays and was a very vocal armchair coach.

Friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South on Tuesday, May 24, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm where the celebration of Jan’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place.  Donations to Heart and Stroke and Pancreatic Cancer or a charity of your choice are appreciated.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.
