Obituary of Tom Parsons

Thomas (Tom) Parsons

      (1938 - 2022)

Peacefully at University Hospital, with his loving family by his side, on Thursday, April 14, 2022, Tom (Thomas) Charles Parsons of London in his 84^th year.  Cherished father of Stephanie and Jeff MacSween and John and Joanne Parsons, .  Proud grandpa of Tyler MacSween and Kerstie Chan and Ryan MacSween, Meghan Parsons and Sarah Parsons and Jordan Taylor-Baptiste and his beautiful great-granddaughter Lucy MacSween. Tom will be missed by Alice Parsons, his many friends and his long-time best friend, Luis Bairos.  Predeceased by his parents Geraldine (Lawson) and Kenneth Parsons and his brothers Ken Parsons (2007) and Garry Parsons (2022).

Tom enjoyed life to the fullest.   Many people will remember Tom through the Mount Pleasant Variety store that he and Alice owned for many years.  He loved his trips to Portugal, which he was fortunate enough to do last fall.  He loved gardening but green beans came before any flower or vegetables and he always shared his crop with friends and neighbours.  Tom really enjoyed the water aerobics at Chelsey Park, where he introduced himself to everyone and made fast friends. These friends weren’t restricted strictly to the pool, as they spent many good times with movie nights or rotating luncheons.  Tom was a very social person who would talk to anyone.  He was really, just that kind of a guy.  He was also gifted with making pies and his rhubarb and elderberry pies were very tasty.  Although Tom wasn’t Irish, he cherished St. Patrick’s Day.  You would be sure to see his Irish flag flying and many people at his open house.  Tom also enjoyed collecting antiques, stamps and knick knacks.

Relatives and friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth 519-652-2020 on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from noon to 1:00 p.m. where the celebration of Tom’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Penny officiating.
