Peacefully at Victoria Hospital with her children by her side, on Thursday January 20, 2022, Mary Head (nee: O’Sullivan) of Lambeth in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Tom Head (2015). Loving and devoted mother of Cathy Lang, Janice Beehler (Ed deceased 2021), Tom Head (Wendy), Dan Head (Bev) and Julie Rynen (George). Predeceased by her son Peter (1950) and daughter in law Bonnie Head (2010). Proud Nana of Mike Lang (Melanie), Mark Lang (Victoria) Mary Catharine Burke (Jeff), Christina Beehler, Katie Beehler, Adam Beehler (Reva), Thomas C. Head, Lindsay Smith (Logan), Jenn Lemesurier (Kyle), Jake Head (Lindsay) Jonathan Rynen (Natalia), Matthew Rynen (Amanda), Brent Rynen (Amber) and 16 great-grandchildren.

In 1952 Mary came to Canada with her husband, a box of his tools, a needle and thread and a toddler on her hip. She raised 5 children on every corner of this country, from Edmonton to Halifax, built houses and turned them into homes. She watched her children raise their children, and her grandchildren do the same. She built an army all her own, from nothing. She was a pillar of strength, loved with every fiber of her being and had the patience of an angel. Her sweet accent sounded like music, but she had a tenaciousness that was unmatched. She was much more than a family matriarch, more than the glue, she made our family into a beautiful tapestry. She sewed us together, each patch a different pattern, colour and texture, but she made it all work. Once you were sewn in there was no removing you. Her family was too precious, her loved ones too dear. She has now joined the love of her life dancing as angels to Vera Lynn.

Thank you to the staff at Ashwood Manor for the care you gave her and making her feel at home.  Thank you also to Reverend Darrell Shaule for his support at the hospital throughout this difficult time. Due to the Covid19 pandemic there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Friday, February 4, 2022, will be followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends at the Lambeth Legion, 7097 Kilbourne Rd. London on February 4th from 1-4pm. Because of her love of animals, donations to The London Humane Society gratefully acknowledged www.hslm.ca.
