Obituary of Gerald Allan Gryp
Passed away peacefully, at University Hospital, London, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, surrounded by his family, at age 69, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dearly loved and missed by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie (Stewardson) Gryp, and much loved dad of Michael (Kate) Gryp and Meaghan (Brad) Macpherson. Jerry was a devoted Grandpa to his five grandchildren, Preston and Ardyn Gryp, and Taylor, Halle and Brynn Macpherson who will very much miss seeing their #1 fan in the stands. [MS1]
Jerry will be sadly missed by his older brother Bob (Lorraine) Gryp of Woburn, MA., sisters-in-law Nancy Cowan (Chatham), Kathleen Woodcock (Waterloo), and brother-in-law Jeff Cunningham (Waterloo). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and a close-knit group of friends. Predeceased by parents Glen and Doreen Gryp, parents-in-law Mike and Mary Stewardson and sister-in-law Lynda Cunningham.
Jerry grew up in Merlin, ON, and following in his brother Bob’s footsteps attended Boston University on a hockey scholarship. He worked at London Hydro as a meter reader, lineman, and Health and Safety Supervisor, retiring after 33 years. Jerry and Bonnie enjoyed their retirement years by spending summers on the golf course with friends and family and winters in Cape Coral, FL, as well as travelling to all the local arenas watching their grandchildren play Jerry’s favourite game, hockey. Over the years, Jerry developed many lifelong friendships which were evident until the very end, with daily coffee visits and endless storytelling and laughter.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will occur at a later date in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Glanworth, ON.
