Yvonne Gwendolyn Fleming

January 5, 1924, to September 13, 2021

Yvonne Gwendolyn (Bartindale) Fleming was born in Ingersoll, Ontario on January 5, 1924, to Melbourne and Margaret Bartindale.  Yvonne departed this earth peacefully on September 5, 2021, at the age of 97 years.

Yvonne grew up as one of nine children on a farm in Banner, Ontario.  She went to Thamesford Continuation School and Sarnia Business College for bookkeeping in Sarnia, Ontario.  Upon graduation, Yvonne went to work for

Yvonne met her husband George Fleming, while dancing under the stars in Sarnia.  They moved to Toronto where George completed his engineering degree at U of T.  They moved north to Lively, Ontario so that George could pursue his mining engineering career and Yvonne could raise their family.

Yvonne and George had three children: David and Elaine Fleming, Ron and Kim Fleming and Cathie and Bill Sischek. Yvonne was the dearly loved gramma of  Mark and Tammy Fleming, Brett and Tracy Fleming, David Fleming, Stephanie and Scott Robinson, Emily Sischek, Julie and Ryan Starr, Leslie and Trevor Kunto, Randy and Sara Nykilchyk and Stacy Fleming and John Lalonde and proud great-grandma by the lake of Ada and Ema Fleming, Vance Fleming, Laci Fleming, James Robinson, Joseph Starr, Owen and Nolan Kunto and Harvey Nykilchyk 

The greatest joy was to spenby the lake d time as a family at the camp in Lost Channel, Ontario.  Yvonne was a devoted wife and mother and will always be remembered for her hard work, her keen interest in her family and her beautiful smile and laugh.

Yvonne lived fully and authentically.  She had many interests including music, gardening, reading, knitting and homemaking, all of which she did very well.  She was able to stay at her cottage in the summers until she was 90 years old.

Yvonne also known as Buttercup, was our Mom Grammy and friend.  She will be dearly missed, but she will be forever alive in our hearts and fond memories.

Friends may visit at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth, 519-652-2020 on Sunday,       September 19, 2021, from 1-3 pm where the Private Celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held at a later date with Reverend Diane Macpherson celebrating.  Cremation to follow with interment Banner, Ontario at a later date.  Donations to Elgin Manor Nursing Home, 39262 Fingal Line, St. Thomas, ON N5P 3S5.gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.
