Obituary of Charlie McCann

Charles John McCann

Peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side, on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, Charlie J. McCann of Lambeth in his 83^rd year.  Cherished partner of Pat Ford.  Loving father of Randa Kristensen, Rick Burt and the late Martin McCann.  Proud grandfather of Justin VanderTuin.  Dear brother of John and Merilyn McCann, Phil and Geraldine McCann and the late Gerald McCann.  Charlie loved being involved in racing cars and he loved to race anything with wheels.  He started racing at the age of 17, which is the number he kept for virtually his entire career.  He retired from racing in the 70’s, but never lost his love of the sport.  You couldn’t keep Charlie away from the track and at the age of 60 he bought a Sprint car to race again and he adapted to the dirt extremely well.  Charlie was known at Delaware Raceway and other local tracks as “Thee Charles McCann”.  We know he is a rookie in Heaven and will continue to win races.  Go Charlie, Go!!
