Obituary of Mary Priscilla Walker

Mary “Tillie” Walker

On Sunday, May 30th, 2021, Mary "Tillie" Walker (nee: Heitman), 92 of London completed the last chapter in her adventure of life, peacefully at her home at Henley Place.  "Tillie" was born in Parry Sound, Ontario to Bill & Leah Heitman.  She is predeceased by her husband Jimmy Walker (1994).  She is predeceased by brothers Sam, Allan and sisters Emma "Chooky" Culford (John), Leona Eager (Alex), Caroline Cox, Eleanor Allen (Robert).  She is survived by her sister Ursula Fedak (George).  She is survived by her son Rick (Suzanne), daughter Mary, grandchildren Danielle and James and grand-dogs, Hershey and Charlie.  She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews across Canada and Scotland.

After the passing of her parents when she was 15, she moved to Vermillion, Alberta to live with her sister Chooky and John Culford.  She served in the RCAF.  In 1953, she married fellow serviceman Jim Walker.  Together, they set off to see the world and raise their children Rick and Mary.  Tillie was a stay-at-home mom but did work on various air bases.  For those that knew mom, she always made room for anyone to drop in unexpectedly for coffee or a meal.  Next to her family, her passion was an insatiable appetite to read.  The adventures laid out in Harquelin Romance novels were her alternate reality.

Due to COVID19 restrictions, a private virtual service will be held. If you wish to participate, please contact her son Rick Walker or McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Ontario London, PO Box 918, Station B. London, Ontario N6A 4Z3.

Many thanks to the staff at Henley Place for their wonderful care of mom over these last few years and especially the love and dignity shown to Tillie on the last leg of her journey.  McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 519-652-2020 in care of arrangements.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.

Mom will remain in our hearts forever.
