Obituary of Daryl Cassidy

Daryl Cassidy

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Daryl Cassidy age 71 on Friday April 9,2021 at his home in London, Ontario after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Devoted husband of 49 years to Bonnie (nee Hilborn), loving father to Shelli Cassidy-McIntosh (Mike), Chantel Rondinelli (Sam) and granddaughters Emlyn and Mckenna. Predeceased by his parents Francis and Elizabeth Cassidy and in-laws Wilfred and Lona Hilborn. Survived by his siblings Raymond (Linda), Angela (Larry), Barry (Janice), Dawn (John), Darren (Katie), sisters-in-law Lynn (Dale), Betty and many nieces and nephews.

Daryl was proud of his Irish-Canadian heritage and family was the cornerstone of his world. With a twinkle in his eye and a song in his heart he loved to spin a good tale to entertain his granddaughters and fill their pockets with riches from Grampy. Daryl had a life-long passion for harness racing and he shared that with an extended circle of family and friends. Commonly known as "Cass" horses gave him great joy and on occasion a little windfall that he would happily share with his family. Daryl was an avid sports enthusiast, fan of the Jays and Leafs and always a supporter of the underdog.

Due to the Covid19 pandemic there will be no visitation or Funeral Service.  A private family celebration of Daryl’s life will be held at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Road, South, Lambeth on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11am.  Donations to the Boys & Girls Club of London, 184 Horton St., E., London, Ont. N6B 1K8 or the London Regional Cancer Program, 800 Commissioners Rd., E., Box 5010, STN B London, Ont. N6A 5W9 gratefully acknowledged.  On-line condolences are available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca.  A special heartfelt thank you to the Cancer and Palliative Care Teams of the London Health Sciences Centre for your amazing care and compassion.
