Obituary of Ruth Beattie

Ruth (Johnston) Beattie

Passed away peacefully, at home in London, with her loving daughters by her side on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.  Ruth in her 90th year, was formerly of Westminster Township.  Beloved wife of 44 years of the late Gerald Beattie (1991).  Survived by children and spouses, Doug (Arnie) and Judy Beattie of Belmont, Marilyn and Rick Eyre of Mallorytown, and Karen and Glenn Webster of London.  Ruth was proud Gram to grandchildren Jeff Beattie (Sue) of Belmont, Brad Beattie (Julie) of Tavistock, Marc Webster (Jessalynn) of London and Becky Webster (Craig Pike ) of London.  She was also Great Gram to great-grandchildren, Cassie and Josh (Jeff & Sue), Brooklyn (Brad & Julie), Kenzie and Austin (Marc & Jessalynn) and Carter, Kyla and Everly (Becky & Craig).  Predeceased by parents Leo and Helen Johnston and sisters Helen (Cliff) Mercer, Marie (Bill) Stevenson and brother Harold (Leona) Johnston.  Survived by brother-in-law Elgin Vessie. 

Ruth was a longtime and active member of the Lambeth Legion.  She was an avid particpant in the Legion dart league for many years.  She was also a very frequent and keen fan at hockey and ball games of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years, especially in the Belmont vicinity.

As per Ruth's wishes, there will be no funeral with the COVID19 restrictions currently in place.  Cremation has taken place and a famly interment of ashes will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery in London.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 501, 7097 Kilbourne Road, London, ON  N6P 1R2 or Crohn's and Colitis Canada.
