Bill lived the philosophy of life and nursing that he espoused. He was wonderfully dedicated to the welfare of his family, friends, patients and society in general. It was a privilege to have him as a friend and colleague. Irreplaceable and inspirational. Lee and Trace Prentice

sending my thoughts and prayers to you all. Bill was such an amazing nurse for us since November of 2006. Every Friday when he would come into the office he always had everyone laughing. He still has clients that ask for him as he had such a caring approach. Bill will be missed by staff coordinators and clients

I started in the O.R. at Victoria Hospital in 1986. Back then Bill was the Charge nurse in O.R. 9. I remember his great sense of humour, and the "30 minute workout" playing in the room. A few years later, in his leadership role, he was always available for a chat, and to give advice. He was helpful if you were having a problem, and he was an advocate for women. He was proud of his family, and of his job. My deep condolences to his family. Liz Crowley

I just wanted to take this opportunity to write a few brief comments about the late Bill Barnum. I am the younger brother of Paul MacGregor. I lived in London for about 10 year so on occasion I had the pleasure of spending some time with him at the Barnum home. I enjoyed the many conversations we had about federal and provincial politics. For a topic that many people can get pretty worked up about, Bill took a different approach with me. He seemed to talk about politics like most talk about the weather. Curious to find out if I had some special insight or knowledge he had not already found out on his own. Although I don't think I brought much to the table, he none the less treated me with respect and dignity even if I did not necessary have my facts right. I also liked how he presented himself. Always down to earth and always looking for an opportunity to crack a joke. Similar to my brother Paul, he used his intelligence and quick wit to come up with some pretty creative one liners. He always brought a smile to my face. This great man will be missed. My condolences to the Barnum family during this difficult time.

Linda it's been a long time since I had spoken to Bill but I have such good memories of our days working together in the O.R. At South Street beginning way back in the early '70's! He was truly a kind & patient man. A devoted nurse & leader. I am out of the country this week & most certainly would have been present Thursday. Please know I will be thinking of you & your family in this difficult time.

I worked with Bill many years ago as an RRT. He scared me as I was a newbie and I was in awe of the OR. It did not take me long to appreciate his fairness and professionalism. I am sorry for your loss.

Linda I am saddened of the passing of Bill. I know how much he was dedicated to his family, friends and work . I first met Bill when I lived on Kintail and bumped into him a few times over the years some times when he was taking care of some of my elderly relatives at home and he was always in a happy mood . My the Good Times carry you through this difficult time.
