STEWART, Margaret “Maggie” (Boid)
September 5, 1932 - August 11, 2025
It is with full hearts that we celebrate the extraordinary life of Maggie Mum; a woman whose kindness, warmth and unwavering generosity left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of everyone she met. Maggie passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Victoria Hospital, London at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Thomas William Wallace Stewart (1986) and cherished Maggie Mum, Granma and Great Granma to her adored family Jenny Stewart (late Derek), Ashley Moore (Sean), Sloane and expectant twins (boy and girl due in October), Rick Hunt (Sara) and Edie; Tom Stewart; Rob Stewart (Barbie), Kara Ameloot (Nate), Stewie, Brycie, Maggie and Winnie, Jordan Stewart (Paul), Meg Stewart (Quincy), Kenzie Stewart; Penny Stewart-Fournier (Tom), Marc Fournier (Kate) and Max and Sarah Fournier (Hunter).
Maggie will be dearly missed by her sister- in- law, Jean Boid and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends in Canada, England and Scotland. Maggie was born in Rotherham, England to the late Thomas and Gertrude (Bailey) Boid. She was predeceased by her siblings Maurice, Thomas, Barbara, Doreen and William. While visiting her sister in Canada, she was introduced to the love of her life, Thomas William Wallace Stewart on a double date. Following their marriage in England, they moved to London, ON. In 1963, they moved to Lambeth where Maggie lived in the family home until her passing. Mum lived and loved a very rich life that included travel to some incredible places, taking in some wonderful operas/recitals and seeing a variety of theatre productions. She learned the art of calligraphy and sang for many years in Fanshawe Chorus London. She cherished the memories of the many years enjoying summers at the Island on Lorimer Lake with the Johnson, Dafoe and Stewart families. Maggie was an avid painter and given Honorary Life Member status of the Lambeth Art Association in 2015. Her treasured watercolour creations adorn the walls of many family members and friends. Her many lunches with the “Travelling Ladies” fed her soul. The bond these ladies share is so incredibly special and the family finds great comfort in knowing that she was able to attend the most recent luncheon.
Maggie’s first priority was her love for her family. She was the matriarch of her family, a role she proudly embraced and acted solely for thirty-nine years with the utmost of grace. Her Lambeth home was the central hub for creating the most wonderful family memories and filled her heart with immense joy.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1pm-3pm at McFarlane & Robert’s Funeral Home. Words of shared memories by the family and musical favourites will commence at 1pm with reception to follow. Cremation has taken place and a private interment of ashes will occur prior to the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, we please ask that you carry forward Maggie’s generous spirt and make a donation to a charity close to your heart in memory of her. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Acute Medicine D7-100 staff, LHSC-to-Home staff, Dr. Joseph, Dr. Ernst, Dr. Saini, Dr. Gregor and Dr. Sonuga for their tremendous support in navigating the past six months of Maggie’s care
