Obituary of Jeannie Whitehead

Jeannie Viola Whitehead

May 25, 1949 to June 16, 2025

Peacefully, on her own terms, with her family by her side. Jeannie was a beautiful, special soul who loved babies, golf, baseball, theatre and travelling. She had a huge family and some of her favorite times were quiet coffees on the deck, quad rides with her grandchildren, dancing and playing the spoons to her favorite country music.

Born in London, Ontario, to Stan and Ruth Gratton, Jeannie was the oldest of seven siblings. She obtained her BA in English from Huron College at UWO before embarking on a successful career in bookkeeping. She had a great sense of humour and loved spending time with her family and in recent years dancing to live music with her friends at Ashwood Manor.

Predeceased by her first husband Glenn Newton, parents Ruth and Stan Gratton, sister Peggy Shepley, and in-laws Daphne and Howard Newton.  Jeannie is survived by her loving husband Ken Whitehead, daughters Sarah Newton and Heather (Ron) Derks, step-daughters Lori (Jim) Newton, Carla (Rob) Brown, Tammy (Rosaire) Bondy, Angie (Marc Dyke) Whitehead, grandchildren Jackson and Heron Derks, Tara and Tyler Peters, Daniel and Alysha Brown, Nicole and the late Lauren Bondy, great-grandchildren Mackenzie Manners and Dalton Mitton and siblings Yvonne (Tom) Barley, Elaine (Scott) Beierling, Donna Vine, Bill (Kari) Gratton and Becky Gratton.
