F. Clare Caughell of London passed away peacefully at LHSC Victoria Hospital, London on Wednesday March 5, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 93.  Beloved husband of 70 years to Joan Mildred May (nee: Lewis) Caughell.  Loving father of Mardi (Ron) Turgeon, Carrie (Jeff) Scully, Leslie (Paul) Deyell and Joel (Mirella) Caughell.  Dear grandfather of Alex, Maren, Kyle, Adam, Robert, Melissa, Justin, Ainslee, Grant, and Thomas.  Great grandfather of Jorge, Nicolas, Margot and Alexis.

Clare was born February 13, 1932 in St. Thomas, ON.  Son of the late Clarence and Irene (Williams) Caughell. Clare was a Mechanical Engineering Technologist and worked for Brown Fintube in St. Thomas, later retiring from Koch Engineering.  His priority was always family and a God-centered life with Joan, whom he continued to call “his bride” up until his passing.

Clare enjoyed his retirement and had several hobbies including model railroading, family genealogy, gardening and photography.  At the age of 80 he crafted scrapbooks for his children with photos taken over the years, including an extensive family tree that he developed.  Clare and Joan spent winters vacationing in Florida.  They were active participants in the Faith Baptist Church, Wortley Baptist Church and Redemption Bible Chapel church communities. 

Clare will be remembered for his wisdom, gentle spirit, his passion for trains, and loving devotion to his wife Joan.  He will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who all loved being with grandpa and spending time with him.

The funeral service will be held at the Mcfarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S London (519 652 2020), on Monday March 10th at 1:00 pm. Followed by a luncheon. Private interment at Woodhull Cemetery.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11:00 am to service time at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission Services London in memory of Clare Caughell.
