I always loved running into Don at the drug store or the variety store or wherever and he always knew who I was and offer a big smile and bigger greetings. Our community will miss him greatly.
My Dad is in the hospital and will be saddened he cannot join you on Saturday.
Please accept his and my sympathies and take care.

To our dear friend Lorene and family, I was shocked and incredibly saddened when Rhonda told me about Don’s passing. I have known you both for over forty years and Rhonda for over twenty-five.
We think they were the consummate couple. Whenever we saw one of the Smith’s, the other was close by.
I remember asking Don if he would be interested in helping me at the funeral home after he retired. He graciously declined. He wasn’t afraid of the work, I think it was because I couldn’t possibly pay him what he was used to or what he was worth. I would have loved to have had Don work with me! Over the years, Rhonda and I have shared so many stories and laughs with both of you. Whether it was visits at the funeral home, church dinners, or Harvestfest, the list goes on. Whenever we met, the first things we would notice was Lorene’s welcoming, warm smile and Don’s firm handshake.
The greatest memory I will keep forever is the last chat I had with him prior to a service at the Lambeth United Church. Don told me he always regretted not working with me.
Lorene, we know you are going to have many difficult days ahead, but never forget that Rhonda and I would love to help you in any way possible.
