With profound sadness, the family of Shirley June Whitney (nee James) announce her passing on December 3, 2025 at Ashwood Manor in Lambeth, in her 93rd year.Predeceased by her husband and love, Don Whitney in 2003. Shirley is survived by her four grateful children, Jennifer (Chris), Susan, Matthew (Gail) and Karen (Todd 2022). She will be missed by her eleven grandchildren, Alecia (Chad), Shane (Leanne), Brittany (Adrian), Kayla (Joe), Jenna (Will), Kate (Justin), Becky (Tyler), Zachary (Melissa), Joshua (Andrea), Nathan and Laura; and thirteen great grandchildren, Kieran, Daelen, Hayley, Layton, Isla, Hunter, Brianna, Adam, Riley, Simon, Lucy, Elijah and Benjamin, who knew her as Grandma Great.  She is also survived by her sister Carol, brother-in-law Ross, brother-in-law Lawrence (Patt) and many nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by sister Dorothy, brother-in-law Tony, brother Donald, sister-in-law Lois, brother-in-law Ralph and sister-in-law Vivian.

Shirley and Don worked together, learning how to farm the land, growing corn, wheat, and soya beans and raising cattle, pigs and chickens on farmland, in Westdel Bourne, London, Southwold Township and in Ekfrid Township. Shirley loved all animals and welcomed all family pets including cats, dogs, horses, goats and ducks. Family was always her priority. 

The family would like to thank the staff and Shirley’s friends at Ashwood Manor, particularly her good friends Betty and Ken (Jeannie 2025), and her dining pals, Pat, Shirley and Edie. Also thanks to the staff of Paramed and VON for their care and support.  Cremation has already taken place and at Shirley’s request a private memorial service will be held.Visitation will take place at McFarlane and Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Rd. S., London on Saturday, December 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Interment at Woodhull Cemetery.
