Judith Ann Comerford

June 16, 1944 – November 26, 2025

It is with sorrow that the family of Judith Ann (Judy) Comerford, 81, announces her passing due to heart related issues on November 26, 2025, in London, Ontario. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario on June 16, 1944, Judy lived a life shaped by resilience, adventure, and service.

Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ernest (Ernie) Comerford. She will be greatly missed by her brother Glen Churchill (Jan); and her children Diana Pinkney (Gerry) and Glen Comerford (Susan). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Alicia (Tim), Joshua (Cara), and Jillian (Patrick); her great-grandson Sam; niece and nephew Jennifer and Scott Churchill; extended family and friends across Canada’s North and beyond.

In 1969, Judy and Ernie—along with their two young children—moved to Nunavut, where they built a life full of unique experiences and lasting friendships. Their many years in the North brought countless stories, adventures, and a deep appreciation for the communities they served. After retiring, they made their home in Calgary and later in London, Ontario, to be closer to family.

Judy dedicated much of her career to Public Health and later to Communications Canada. She was also deeply committed to the Girl Guides of Canada, serving as a leader and eventually as Commissioner of the Girl Guides in the Northwest Territories. Her long-standing volunteer work was recognized with a Canadian Volunteer Recognition Medal.

A gifted quilter, Judy created beautiful quilts that now warm the homes of her family—handmade pieces stitched with love and care that will be cherished for generations.

A quiet family service will be held in Ottawa in December. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S., Lambeth entrusted with the arrangements.
