It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Holly (Oldham) Finlay at the Barrie Family Hospice, St Thomas on November 4, 2025
Daughter of the late Lois and Currie Oldham and sister to Andrew Simpson (Jenny) and Sandra Annett (Danny).
Left to mourn her loss, her loving partner Dan “Rap” Rapelje and their fur-baby Oaklie, her most cherished children Nikki McCormick (Marshal) and Matthew Finlay (Breanna) and a most precious gift born on Sep 16, 2025, her grandson Maverick Murray McCormick. Loving nieces and nephews will miss their special Aunty and her unique gifts full of loving thoughtfulness. Longtime girlfriends Cindy (Timewell) Paul, Lynda (Pyatt) Marshall, Krista (Grieves) Chinnery, Darlene Parish and Carole Sommerville who continued to visit and pamper Holly until her final hours.
Holly spent her childhood years within the village of Shedden growing up in the simplicity of small-town life. Upon graduation from Parkside Collegiate Institute she attended Westervelt Business School, London and obtained a Diploma of Secretarial Administration. During her working career she was employed with Hardi Agriculture, London, E.A. Manchester Accounting, St Thomas and the St Thomas Times-Journal.
When diagnosed with cancer in 2014 Holly faced every day with dignity and courage, not allowing illness to define her life or those she loved. She spent her final years snuggling and watching movies with Rap & Oaklie, relaxing at their trailer in Port Bruce, lunching with friends, boot scootin’ at the Boot Hill Festival and pouring love into her family. She will be missed.
Our family gives our heartfelt thanks to the many health professional organizations who provided the absolute best of care to Holly – St Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre and the Barrie Family Hospice, St Thomas.
