Obituary of Joseph Toy
Joseph Russell Toy 1956-2025
Suddenly on October 31, 2025 we lost a great man….Joseph Russell Toy at the age of 69. Loved by all who knew him, Joe’s greatest love was for his family. One of 5 children born to William and RoseMary (Vowles) Toy( both deceased) in London, Ontario. Left behind to mourn are his three beloved daughters: Samantha (Ben)Walker, Frederiction, Jessica (Jason) Carswell, and Abigail (Shane) Carswell, both of Sturgeon Falls. He was an adored Grampsy to Alexis and Owen Carswell, Annabella Carswell, and Adeline Walker who will miss him dearly.
Cherished and loved were brothers Fred (Jan) Toy, Mike (Maureen) Toy and sister Kathy (Phil) White. Predeceased by sister Sandra Toy. He was known as UJ to nephews and great nieces and nephews who admired him as he held a special place in their lives. Also missing Joe will be aunts, uncles, cousins and co-workers especially from Viking Pump Company where he worked for 33 years.
Also left to grieve is the mother of his 3 children and dear friend Tracy (Wood/Toy) Tonkin (Eric).
While his family was his greatest joy, his others were golf, card games, shopping, Billy Joel, Burton Cummings, cottage bonfires, Franks Red Hot Sauce (and yes he did put that on everything), Delaware speedway and Christmas. He was always proud of his outdoor decorations he put up with his 3 elves.
The family would like to thank the exceptional care he received at the West Nipissing General Hospital and Au Chateau Retirement Home.
Visitation will be held at McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, 2240 Wharncliffe Rd. S. Lambeth, Ontario on Friday November 7th from 7-9 pm and Saturday November 8th from 10-12 with Mass of the Christian Burial and celebration of life held at St. John the Divine Parish, 390 Base Line Rd W., London at 1pm. The family would like all present to join them at a luncheon back at the funeral home at 3pm. As per Joe’s wishes, pizza and chicken wings will be served along with his favourite date square and other sweet treats.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation //cpff.ca/donate/would be greatly appreciated
