Hedley- Derek of Lambeth, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Elmwood Place, Longterm Care Home while surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83. Loved husband of Stella (Thwaite) Hedley and proud father of Ben and his wife Alison. Dear grandfather of Tom. He is survived by his siblings Eileen and Matthew and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Derek was born October 30, 1941, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, the son of the late Matthew and Isabella. Derek had previously worked for the British Government for 23 years and had worked in Brussels for EuroControl prior to his retirement. Derek and Stella retired to Canada in 2007 from Europe to join their family in Canada. Derek enjoyed bicycling around southwestern Ontario, gardening at their home in Lambeth, and bowling with the Lambeth Lawn Bowling Club. The family wish to thank the staff at Elmwood Place for their care and compassion while caring for Derek. 

An Open House visitation will be held at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S., Lambeth on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 3-5 pm.
