Obituary of Norm Peterson

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, Norm’s family announces

the passing of a truly remarkable gentleman on Monday - September 22, 2025, in his 95th

year.

Norm was a devoted husband and soul mate to Eve (Rintamaki), who passed away Dec. 4,

2002, with whom he shared 50 years. He was a loving and proud father of Dave (Rachelle

née Reaume) and Chuck (Dawn née Johnston).  He was a cherished Poppy to Jarret

(Andrea), Joe (Heather), Jay (Bree), Cheryl (Chris),  Erin (Jedd) and Jed.  He was proud of

all his grandchildren and was a constant supportive presence and cheerleader.  His legacy

continues through his great-grandchildren: Teagan, Sloane, Sutter, Layne, Blake, Renée and

Rhyland - each carrying a piece of his gentle spirit.

Norm’s kindness and love extended far beyond his immediate family.  He was Poppy to

many; including his adoped Johnston, Wilson, Matthews and Held families.  His love was

quiet but powerful - never about grand gestures, but always about the small acts that lifted

hearts and lightened burdens.  He was a constant source of encouragement, joy and

unconditional support.

Norm was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on December  4, 1930, the son of Charlie and

Swea (Westberg) Peterson.  Predeceased by his sisters Lilly, his (twin) Norma and brothers

Lloyd and Rudolph. He is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Pat Peterson and his dear

friends and colleagues: Jack Dees and Trevor Jenkins.

Norm’s work ethic and integrity were evident throughout his career.  He worked at the

Hollinger Gold Mine in Timmins until 1968, before moving his family to Lambeth to start his

career at the Ford Motor Company of Canada's St. Thomas Assembly Plant, where he retired

in 1992.

To know Norm was to know a man of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering

generosity.  He was a beautiful soul whose presence brought comfort and joy.  His memory

will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Southbridge London Long Term Care, and

the numerous others who provided compassionate care.

A public visitation will be held at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home,  2240 Wharncliffe

Rd. S., Lambeth, Ontario on Monday, September 29,2025 from 12 noon to 2 pm with a

private family service and burial to follow by officiant Canon David Bowyer.  In lieu of

flowers, donations can be made to Autism Ontario https://www.autismontario.com/,

the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en or to CNIB https://www.cnib.ca/en

in memory of Norm.
