I've known you for over 25 years and words can't describe my feeling of loss. I find myself trying to process the fact that this isn't a nightmare and that I won't wake up tomorrow with everything being okay. You are the best - still reigning champ of the best spaghetti sauce known to everyone who knew you. You made the best birthday cupcakes and had the best after school cookies. I'll forever know every episode of The Young and Restless. You always helped anyone in need without hesitation and took everyone and anyone under your wing. You took twin infants, one with medical issues and a a brother with high needs without any hesitation as well as dealing with other children in your house for before and after school program. Today I look back at everything I've learned from you and what has helped me to become the person I am today. I love you to the moon and back.My family is your family.

I had the good fortune of getting to know Maria through Tina as we worked together at TD in Lambeth. Through the years we would have lengthy chats especially when Maria would come to do her banking on Sundays and we would sit in my office and discuss our daughters and just life in general, many laughs came out of those conversations! Maria was one of the most kind, loving and generous individuals we knew. She was a 3rd grandmother to our girls over the last 10 years and will be missed tremendously. Maria, the girls got hot chocolate and maple taffy on a stick with the $10 you gave them for our vacation this week and thank you from the bottom of their tummies. Dear, dear Marija....she loved on my Mitchell for years when I was working....she looked after Mitch before he started school, and, as he got older, he went to her home after school each day. Marija was the consummate “care giver”....Mitchell always loved to see her, as did I when I would pick him up after my work at the TD in Lambeth. She is definitely “gone too soon”. Maria, I will always remember you standing in your kitchen chatting to me as Tina was upstairs getting ready. You had such funny stories to tell and a distinctive laugh. Catherine and Tina, Seneca and I are so sorry for your loss. Marija made us feel like family at her kitchen table or in the sun on the deck, right from our first meeting. My favourite memories of Marija are walking through her kitchen door, into a warm room filled always with smiles and laughter (and sometimes with palachinkas!) She was a bright light and everyone was drawn to her warm smiles and huge heart. Her passing has left a huge hole in many people's hearts and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
